Nominations & Elections: Your Opportunity to Serve at St. John’s Credit Union Ltd.

At St. John’s Credit Union Ltd., we believe in people helping people. As a member-owner, you have a voice in shaping the future of your credit union. Every year, we invite our members to participate in the nominations and elections for our Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, and Credit Committee.

This is your chance to step up and make a difference in the governance and success of our credit union. If you’re passionate about supporting your community and helping us grow, we encourage you to get involved and run for a position!


Positions Open for Election

  1. Board of Directors (3 openings)
    As a member of the Board of Directors, you’ll help provide strategic direction and oversee the credit union’s operations to ensure we meet the needs of our members.

  2. Supervisory Committee (1 opening)
    The Supervisory Committee is responsible for ensuring the credit union is operating in accordance with regulations and best practices. It’s a key role in maintaining transparency and trust.

  3. Credit Committee (1 opening)
    Members of the Credit Committee evaluate and approve loan applications, ensuring that lending practices are fair, responsible, and aligned with our mission.


Nomination Process

Nominations are now open for those wishing to serve on the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, and Credit Committee. If you’re interested in being nominated, you must be a member in good standing of St. John’s Credit Union Ltd. and meet the eligibility requirements.

All candidates must be nominated by another SJCU member (with their consent) by submitting a completed Nomination Form to any of our SJCU branches or by email to marketing@sjcu.com.bz . All nominations must be submitted no later than Friday, May 23, 2025.


Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to run for these positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a member in good standing of St. John’s Credit Union Ltd.
  • Have at least 1 year of membership with the credit union.
  • Not have any delinquent loans or accounts with the credit union.
  • Have a strong understanding of credit union operations or relevant expertise in finance, governance, or community development (specific to the position).
  • Must not have been convicted of a criminal offense that would disqualify the individual from holding a position of trust or responsibility.
  • Must be 18 years or older and must reside in the country of Belize.

Election Process

Elections will take place at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at SCA Mercy Center on Marine Parade in Belize City. Members present at the meeting will have the opportunity to vote for the nominees they believe will best serve the credit union’s interests.

The results of the election will be announced during the meeting.
